Start Your Week with Real Talk in Education
👩🏽 Hedreich Nichols
Hedreich is an award-winning educator, curriculum designer, and author whose work focuses on equity, digital citizenship, and amplifying student voice. She’s a passionate advocate for culturally responsive teaching and has helped teachers and schools across the country rethink how they reach every student. You may know her from her YouTube series, Small Bites, where she breaks down big equity issues into digestible steps for educators.
👩🏼💻 Alice Keeler
That’s me! I’m a high school math teacher, EdTech geek, Google Certified Innovator, and author of several books including 50 Things You Can Do with Google Classroom and Ditch That Homework. I’m obsessed with designing student-centered classrooms, rethinking grading practices, and finding ways tech can actually empower learners—not just digitize old school practices.
Together, we bring years of classroom experience, curriculum expertise, and some unfiltered opinions about what’s really happening in schools.
What Do We Talk About?
HA! unmutED is not just another education podcast filled with buzzwords. We’re tackling real questions that educators ask themselves every day. We’re not here to push the newest gimmicky tech. We’re here to talk about what actually works, what students need, and how we can do better.
Some topics you can expect:
🎤 Student Voice: Giving students real agency in their learning
🧠 Critical Thinking & Creativity: Not just the 4 C’s—we live them
📱 EdTech with Purpose: When to use it, when to skip it
💬 Equity in the Classroom: From grading to access, and everything in between
📝 Assessment That Matters: Authentic tasks, not just tests and grades
🧑🏫 Teacher Real Talk: The joys, the stress, and the “Why are we still doing this?” moments
Expect us to challenge the status quo, laugh a lot, and maybe ruffle a few feathers—all in the name of making learning better for kids.
Why HA! unmutED?
The name says it all. HA stands for Hedreich and Alice. And being “unmuted” means we’re not holding back. We’re speaking up about what really matters in education—especially when it comes to student-centered learning, equity, and making meaningful use of technology. This is the podcast where you’ll hear the stuff that doesn’t always make it into staff meetings.
