Present Google Slides NOT Full Screen

Options for how you present your Google Slides. Perhaps you want to present Google Slides NOT full screen.
Present Google Slides NOT Full Screen

The default for presenting Google Slides is full screen, which can be limiting if you need access to other resources while presenting. As a teacher, I consistently need to switch between materials during lessons. Luckily, you can now Present Google Slides NOT Full Screen, giving you more flexibility. This feature allows you to keep your slides visible while easily accessing other tabs or resources, making it much easier to teach and manage your content simultaneously.

The image is designed in orange and white tones with text reading 'Google Slides Present.'"

Slideshow Button

Awhile back Google Slides changed the Present button to “Slideshow.” Clicking on “Slideshow” moves the presentation to full screen. But, what if you want to present Google Slides NOT full screen?

Tiny Arrow Slideshow Button

In changing to “Slideshow” from “Present” a tiny arrow was added. I’m always excited about a tiny triangle or 3 dots. This indicates more options. Always click on Google tiny triangles! Check out what options you have. Notice Google also added a tiny triangle next to the Share button.

Presentation Options

A Google Slides menu is shown with presentation options. The "Slideshow" button at the top displays a drop-down menu, revealing options such as "Presenter view" to start the slideshow with speaker notes, "Start from beginning" with a keyboard shortcut, and "Presentation display options" marked as new. There are also grayed-out options like "Present using Chromecast." This menu provides different ways to present slides, including an option to not present full screen.

Clicking the tiny triangle on the “Slideshow” button provides 4 options: Presenter view, Start from beginning, Present using Chromecast, and Presentation display options.

I will leave “Presenter view” for another blog post. It has lots of cool features like being able to see your speaker notes and to start a Q&A poll. Too much for this space.😁

Presentation Display Options

From the tiny dropdown triangle is the option for “Presentation display options.”

This brings up a popup for display options and display slideshow on. I love that I can have more granular options for how I display my content.

Disable Full Screen

I dislike presenting my Google Slides in full screen. It takes over my whole screen. I’m not giving a keynote every day, so I don’t just stand and click through slides for 50 minutes.

Deselect “Full screen.”

This will display the presentation in a tab, allowing you access to your other tabs.

Maintain Access to Other Tabs

When you uncheck “Full Screen” the presentation is displayed within the tab. Now you can easily switch over to your SIS to take attendance and toggle back to your presentation as needed 🙂
