Google Forms™ are awesome, you immediately get the information when students fill out the Form. You know who DID fill out the Form. But what about who did NOT fill out the Form. This is a lot trickier. Obviously, the Form does not know who was supposed to fill out the Form so it can not tell you who is missing. I have created an Add-on that will provide you with a list of those who did NOT fill out the Form.
Missing From Google Forms™
The Missing From by Alice Keeler Add-on helps you to match up a list of email addresses you were expecting to fill out the Form with the email addresses that were submitted. This works quickly and easily to provide you a list of who did NOT fill out the Form.
Privacy Permissions with Missing From
The Missing From Add-on has zero access to your Google Forms or Google Drive data. Your email address is matched to confirm your subscription to Missing From. This is the only information that is known or used by the developer: AliceKeeler.
Create a Google Form™
Obviously, if you want to know who did NOT fill out a Google Form you will need to have a Google Form.
Add a New Sheet
You will need a sheet in the Google Form responses spreadsheet that contains a list of expected email addresses. Missing From by Alice Keeler is a Google Sheets™ Add-on. Start by going to the Responses tab in your Google Form and clicking on the spreadsheet icon. You should be viewing the Google Sheets spreadsheet that collects Google Form responses. Add a new sheet or you can send a sheet that you have of participant email addresses to the Form Responses sheet.
For an existing spreadsheet use the “Copy to” in the tab menu to send to “Existing spreadsheet.”
Column Header Email
You MUST have column headers on your expected participant’s sheet. The header needs to contain the word email. No other headers should contain the word email. Missing From by Alice Keeler Finds email addresses that are missing from Google Forms by matching email addresses so it is important that you label which column has those email addresses.
Form Collects Email
It is very important that your Google Form is automatically collecting email addresses. To ensure unique values to match, email addresses are used as the key for who is missing from the Google Form.
Matching Form Tab
Missing From by Alice Keeler does assume that you are using a Google Form and that your tab with the Form Responses says “Form.” You may have renamed the tab for Form Responses. At least temporarily please put “Form” as the first 4 characters on the tab name.
Extensions Menu
The Add-on Missing From by Alice Keeler can be found in the Extensions menu after you have installed it. Be sure that you are looking at the pull participant list before running the Add-on. The Add-on will automatically detect which column has the word email in it and match it against column B (email addresses) in the Form tab. A new sheet will be added to your spreadsheet with the list of who did NOT fill out the Form.
VLOOKUP
If you would like to know more than the email address of who did not fill out the Google Form, please use a vlookup on the participants email addresses to grab additional columns such as name.

Scheduler Add-on by Alice Keeler
The quest to know who did NOT fill out the Google Form™ was started by me (Alice) when I was trying to organize and “Adulting Day” at the high school I teach at. I told the principal I would have the list of those students who did NOT fill out the Form on Monday. This proved to be more difficult than I thought it would be.
I designed an Add-on that helps you to organize participants into a schedule when there are multiple sessions throughout the day.
We used a Google Form™ to ask the students their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc… choice out of the 50 activities. We then needed to arrange them into session blocks based on their preferences and room availability. Each room had a cap of the number of students who could attend.
Please review and install all of my Add-ons in the Google Marketplace.
Who is Not Registered For the Event?
After giving the Google Form™ to the students, we needed to know who did not fill out the Form so they can be scheduled. I built into the Scheduler Add-on the ability to generate the list of email addresses of who did not fill out the Form and add them to the Form Responses tab so you have a complete list.
My Add-on “Scheduler by Alice Keeler” collects no user data. NO PII. While its main function is to create schedules for an activity day, you can use Scheduler with ANY Google Form™.
List of Who is Missing
Using the Extensions menu, choose “Scheduler by Alice Keeler” and use the option for “Find Missing Participants.”
This will prompt you to confirm that you are looking at the sheet with the full roster of who you expect to fill out the Form. The Add-on will automatically detect the column with the word “Email” in the header. It will also automatically detect the “Form” sheet and the column that says “Email Address.” These 2 columns will be compared. Any emails on the active sheet that are NOT on the Form Responses will be added to a new sheet.
