Search for Files in a Google Drive Folder

As usual, G Suite is always getting better! Now you can search for files within a folder! I have wanted to do this so many times!

Go to the Folder in Drive

The easiest way to locate a file within a folder in Google Drive is to open the folder in Google Drive. Notice in the breadcrumbs at the top the tiny triangle next to the folder name. Click on it. In the menu options for that folder is an option to “Search within ” that folder. Click on tiny triangle in breadcrumbs

Use the Search Box

After selecting to “Search within” from the folder menu, use the search box at the top. Notice that underneath the search box you are informed that this search is not searching all of Google Drive but rather “Searching in” your folder.
Use the search box

Start with the Search Box

You can also use the advanced search from the search box at the top of Google Drive. Click on the tiny triangle in the search box to open the filter options. Notice the option for “Location” that says “Anywhere.” You do not want to search anywhere, you want to search within a folder. Click on “Anywhere” to locate your folder. change the location in the filter
