Slides to Spanish+ allows teachers to effortlessly translate their Google Slides presentations. To convert your Slides to Spanish, or any other language, install this FREE Add-on by Alice Keeler.
Slides to Spanish or Any Language
In Google Docs you can use the Tools menu to select “Translate document.” This will make a copy of your Google Doc into a selected language. Unfortunately, this feature is NOT natively built into Google Slides. However, if you create resources in Google Slides you will want to make these Slides available to students and guardians in other languages.
Install Slides to Spanish+
Convert your Google Slides to “ANY” language with my Slides to Spanish+ Add-on.
While there is a quick option for Spanish, use the sidebar to select any language that is available in Google Translate.
Easy to Convert Your Slides to Spanish (or any language)
While the Add-on is named Slides to Spanish+ it actually takes your Google Slides and converts to all of the available languages for Google Translate.
Slides to Spanish+ creates a new Google Slides and copies your slides over to a new presentation. Your original presentation is not disturbed.
Steps to Copy Slides into Spanish
- Use the Extensions menu to select
Slides to Spanish+ - Choose “Slides to Spanish”
- Wait for it….
- A new Google Slides is created in Google Drive. IF you have pop-ups enabled the new presentation will appear in a new tab. Otherwise, check Google Drive.
Steps to Choose Another Language
- Use the Extensions menu to select Slides to Spanish+
- Show the sidebar
- Choose from the “Quick Select” or “Other Languages” drop downs
- Click Translate
Translate from English
This add-on is intended to be a quick translate from English into another language using Google Slides. THIS IS A BASIC Add-on. There is no option for Google Slides that originate in another language than English simply because it is easier to code.
It is FREE to translate from English to any language available to me by using Google Translate. The copied slides are in your Google Drive.
Automagical Slides Translator
If you need a significantly more robust translation, consider using Automagical Slides Translator by my buddy John McGowan. He is a former math teacher and awesome guy. If you’re looking for resources you can trust, I highly recommend Automagical.
Additional Limitations to Slides to Spanish+
To avoid using DriveApp scope, thus limiting the permissions, I am not able to copy your Google Slides and translate. Instead, I have to create a new Google Slides and these are always in the standard dimensions.
Non Standard Google Slides Dimensions
Unfortunately, if your slides are not the default dimensions the translated slides will NOT match. You can MANUALLY change the copied slides dimensions and it works pretty well. If this is not workable, please use Automagical Slides Translator which is a significantly better add-on than mine.
Translate to Multiple Languages at Once
If you need to copy your Google Slides into multiple languages Slides to Spanish+ allows you to checkbox multiple language options. This is an upgraded feature with a cost of $5 per year. This small annual cost helps support me to maintain these add-ons.
In the sidebar choose “Select multiple languages” which will open a new sidebar with a list of languages to checkbox. Click “Create Slides” and wait for all of the translated slides to appear in your Google Drive.
Note, the slides will appear blank until all of the slides have translated. Please be patient.
