See below for a sample of a low floor high ceiling question
Last Summer I created a weekly math session called “Math Summer” where teachers do math together over Zoom. I decided to create a space to do math, especially low-floor high-ceiling problems, so we can learn from each other as well as potentially use these tasks in our classroom. Teachers can volunteer to present a task each week.
Here are the presenters and topics for this Summer’s Math Summer:
Low Floor High Ceiling Example
Here is a low-floor high-ceiling activity that we did last year found in the book Teaching for Mathematical Understanding by Tony Cotton:
This is my favorite low-floor high-ceiling activity because not only are there several ways to find where 1,000 is, but it also shows how patterns can help us find solutions.

I am excited to see that you are offering a session that includes Kindergarten. When I clicked the Google Form to sign up it gave me an error message. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do to sign up. Thank you for providing this opportunity to collaborate! I am looking forward to it.
