Quote Tweet: Mention The Tweeter

When you retweet a tweet on Twitter you have the option to add some commentary to the tweet you are retweeting. This is a “Quote tweet.”

The problem is that when you quote tweet someone the quoted tweet does not count as a retweet for the tweeter’s statistics and the quote tweet does not show up under “Mentions.” Thus the original tweeter may never know you retweeted their tweet.

Add the Twitter Handle

In the comment of your quote tweet, consider adding the Twitter handle of the original tweeter. This will then cause the quote tweet to show up in their mentions.
Include their twitter handle

At the End

Tip, add the Twitter handle at the end of the tweet… or where it makes sense. If you start a tweet with @ it can be semi-private. This is why you see some tweets starting with a period.
