This Assignment is Lame

I am highly motivated, I would describe myself as an overachiever. I have noticed though that when the assignment is lame, I do not care about it. I am happy to get an 85%, I did not put in the effort to get an A. If I feel unmotivated by lame assignments, how much more do underperforming students feel unmotivated by them? My daughter (6) was asked to do a 21 page math packet of basic math problems below her level. Any surprise she was eager to not go to school?

If we want students to care about learning, we first need to make sure the assignments are not lame.
