I am a big fan of Wayground (formerly Quizizz.) I have used it for years and love all the improvements they continue to make with reporting features, ability to reassign selected students to try again, and accessibility features. I was creating a quiz and felt like something was missing. I reached out, to find out that IT IS POSSIBLE but it is a hidden feature!
Hyperlinking Text in Wayground is Possible
I was creating a quiz based on an article. I wanted the students to be able to refer to the article when answering the quiz. However, it seemed that there were no rich text (or hyperlinking) options for where I typed the question. I found out..
There is a secret way to hyperlink text!
Control V Paste
You first need to copy the link you want to hyperlink to onto your clipboard. I use Control T, to open a new tab, and navigate to the website. Control L will highlight the entire URL. Control C to copy the URL.
No Hyperlink Icons in Wayground
Since there is no obvious way to hyperlink text in a Wayground quiz question, you will need to TRUST that this trick will work.
Highlight the desired text to hyperlink and use Control V to paste it.
Traditionally, you use Control K to hyperlink. That will NOT work in Wayground. Control V will hyperlink the selected text with the URL that is already copied to your clipboard. You can not type in the desired link destination, you must paste it.

It Doesn't Look Hyperlinked
After using Control V, there is NO indicator (usually, hyperlinked text is underlined) that the text is linked.
Save the question and preview your quiz. Click on the text that you pasted the link onto. It should launch the link in a new tab. This trick will not mess up taking the quiz, the quiz will continue in the tab.

Without the underlined text students will not know they can click on the resource you linked to. In this quiz you will see I added text to the question “Click here to read article.” When hovering over they hyperlinked text, the cursor will changed to a “choosing finger” as opposed to the cursor arrow.
Hyperlinking to Resources
This hidden feature of Quizizz is powerful. Direct students to resources when appropriate. It’s easy, but tricky. Enjoy!!
