When I see a student who is bored, restless, sassy, etc… rather than badger them to sit up straight and pay attention I take that as feedback to myself that I failed to engage that student in my lesson.

Make a Spreadsheet

Consider creating a spreadsheet with a roster of your students. Go down the list and ask yourself if each student, individually, was engaged in the lesson that day. If not, how will you incorporate THAT students interests into the next days lesson? Why would that student be excited to learn what you are are teaching them? Being on the test or because it is a standard is not a good reason for that student probably.
