Edit and modify the prompt to work for you! You retain full ownership, and again, no information is ever shared with us.
Educator AI Assistant is an Add on for Google Sheets™.
How does an AI toolkit work? A prompt is prewritten for you so you can click “Lesson Plan Generator”, or whichever tool you need, and simply provide your lesson topic and some notes. Educator AI Assistant provides this functionality for you. The key difference is we show you the prompt. You can fully customize and edit the prompt. The workflow is straightforward:
- Insert a template into your Google Sheet™.
- Choose your desired tool from the dropdown list.
- Fill in your inputs such as grade level and topic.
- Export the results directly to Google Docs™, Sheets™, Slides™, Forms™, Calendar™, Tasks™, Gmail™, or Google Classroom™.
Educator Tools
This is the current list of pre-made AI tools for your toolkit. This is in BETA! We are looking for beta testers who will help perfect the prompts. With Educator AI Assistant, you are never locked in. Since your prompts are listed in your own spreadsheet you can edit them anyway you want. You can even create your own! We have a tool that asks you to describe in natural language what you want the tool to do and it will build a starter prompt for you!
Ultimate Flexibility - Getting Started and Customizing Your Toolkit
Bookmark your spreadsheet for easy access back to Educator AI Assistant. You can reveal the sidebar anytime using the Extensions menu. When you first set up the Tool List, we provide five of our most popular tools to get you started. If you do not need them, simply delete those rows. Use the sidebar to insert additional tools from our library. We clearly display the prompt associated with each tool, and crucially, it is fully editable. Feel free to change the tool’s name to something that suits you better; it’s your spreadsheet table, and you can modify it to fit your workflow. Please note that the column order and certain formatting requirements must remain unchanged for the Add on to function correctly.
Tool Builder
Is a specific tool missing from our library? Use the integrated Tool Builder. Describe the tool you need in your own words, and the builder will generate a draft prompt for you, automatically adding it to your custom Tool List.
Input Questions – Activity Builder Template
What information typically fuels your activities? Perhaps a lesson title, standard, or grade level? We include common inputs like these by default when you insert an activity builder template. However, these default inputs, found in column A, are completely editable. You have the freedom to add more inputs, or remove or ignore existing ones. The activity builder is designed for ultimate flexibility.
Insert a Tool to Your Activity Builder
Avoid excessive navigation; you can use multiple AI tools directly within a single activity builder sheet. Simply use the sidebar to insert a tool onto the activity builder page using the convenient dropdown list.
Do you want to reuse the same tool settings and input values but apply them to a different topic? Just duplicate the entire sheet, change the topic input, and press “Generate Selected” to utilize your chosen tool with the new information.
List of Prompts and Output Documents
Every time you generate an activity, it is automatically logged on the “Document List” sheet for your records. This log provides the exact prompt used for the generation and includes a direct link to the resulting output document (like a Google Doc or Slide). This system makes finding your previously generated lesson plans and activities simple. You can also easily copy the logged prompt to refine it further or use it directly in your preferred large language model, such as Google Gemini™.
We Can NOT Access Your Data
Educator AI Assistant works entirely within your Google Workspace™. ZERO data is transmitted back to us. We can not access your files.
Yes And....
Educator AI Assistant not only generates your desired output but also provides the exact prompt used to create it. If the initial draft isn’t quite right or doesn’t fully meet your needs, you can easily copy this prompt and paste it directly into Google Gemini to refine it further and craft a better output yourself.
Gems… AI That Knows You
Google Gemini offers features that allow for significant personalization, helping the AI understand your specific context and teaching methods. While the term “Gems” might be used in some contexts, Google generally refers to these capabilities using terms like custom instructions or memory.
These features enable you to provide Gemini with specific guidance about how you teach. You can define your preferred teaching techniques, specify student needs, or outline classroom policies. While direct file uploads (like department policies or research articles) to permanently train Gemini’s core responses might be handled differently depending on the specific Google product (like NotebookLM vs. the main Gemini interface), the core idea is to give Gemini relevant background information. By providing these custom instructions or allowing Gemini to remember key details from your conversations, its outputs can become much more aligned with your unique approach.
Integrating Educator AI Assistant with Gemini’s Personalization
Educator AI Assistant streamlines the initial creation process: it helps you choose a tool, utilize a prompt structure you approve of, and provide specific details for your activity. It then crafts a starter prompt and a rough draft output for you.
Crucially, WE PROVIDE YOU WITH THE PROMPT used in this process. You can then take this prompt, copy and paste it into Google Gemini, and leverage Gemini’s personalization features (like custom instructions). This allows the AI, now equipped with both the specific task prompt and your personalized teaching context, to generate a final output that truly reflects you, your students, and your unique teaching style.
Is Educator AI Assistant FREE?
Due to costs associated with using the Google Gemini API for every prompt run, we cannot offer Educator AI Assistant entirely for free while covering our expenses. We will, however, provide a useful free version. To support the toolkit’s continued availability and improvement, users can also choose to upgrade to a premium version for a nominal fee.
