Paperless Is Not a Pedagogy

Alice’s PLE

Alice Keeler PLE, by bsualicekeeler

I decided to create my PLE that I would use a product I have not used before. My diagram was created with PearlTrees. PearlTrees prompts me to install a Chrome extension to add website links to my PearlTree diagram. To create my PLE I thought about the different platforms where I learn. Mostly I learn by connecting and sharing so my PLE can mostly be represented by digital tools and social media. I created different categories of how my learning is conducted and went to find evidence or examples of where that happens. The PearlTrees Chrome extension made it easy to add the resources. It also makes it easy to embed the diagram into webpages which is nice.

For this particular assignment, it was not as meaningful to me as other assignments were. I did something similar to this for a class I took for my masters degree. In this particular case, I did not have any epiphanies or insights that stood out to me after creating the diagram. I am constantly learning and connecting and feel that is extremely important as an educator. Having a diverse learning environment that includes sharing, collaborating, connecting and creating is something I am constantly trying to impart on educators.
