Paperless Is Not a Pedagogy

Wow! I just did that! AK Teacher Tech Reflections with @MjmcalliWrites

Before you head into the new year, take a moment and think about how you have grown in the last year, six months, even two weeks ago. You probably look at challenges differently, even while you are tired, and you know you will find a way. We are so glad for wonderful leaders like you.

Guest Post by Melody McAllister

This past April, Alice Keeler and I began a Teacher Tech Facebook Community. We are amazed at the growth and that in a few, short months, we have over thirty thousand members. In our community, teachers share resources, ask for help (and get it), and we ponder through some issues of our times.  It has been inspirational to watch teachers help teachers through these last two semesters. Educators everywhere have done the hard things. Whether remote, face to face, or hybrid, we’ve come such a long way so I asked teacher to finish this sentence, “Wow, I _____” and the answers are wonderful! Click here to see entire post in community.

Yes!! You survived! You learned new tech tools!  You taught hundreds of kids without being in the same room! You deserve a standing ovation!

You and your students had FUN using new technology! Your teaching practices will never be the same! I am in awe of you!

It didn’t matter if you taught music or science, you did it. You made it! You rolled with the punches and did whatever you needed to do for your students.

You pursued your own dreams despite the pandemic. You went for it! AND you still have love in your heart to lift up others!

You accomplished more than you ever thought you could. Whether it was your first year of teaching or technology wasn’t in your realm of expertise…all of that has changed for the best. AND you still helped students GROW! You never gave up on them! The impact you made is real and lasting.

You made goals and achieved them! You grew in your subject matter and found new ways  to interact with students and keep them engaged.  You found time to meet with students where they were at.  You did that. You are incredible.

You found a way to reach students in such a way, they all showed up! That’s you!!!

You became a leader in the classroom, school, and district. You helped form new and better expectations. You truly did things you never thought you would do and I hope you are looking back in awe of yourself.

Life didn’t stop and neither did you. You are committed to continually growing!

You mentored, you were innovative, you excelled in your area and it impacted an entire school community! There is nothing you can’t do!

But the reason why we are celebrating no matter what you were able to do is that you did not give up! We are all at different points of growth and new capabilities. Don’t compare yourself with others, just be proud you are here. You didn’t stop.

Huge and heartfelt thanks to educators across the globe and all they’ve done for the communities around the world!

If you are wanting to join our Alice Keeler Teacher Tech Facebook Community, we invite you also! We are committed to growing and supporting one another.
