Students CREATE and EXPLORE and BUILD their learning with Minecraft. This is an excellent tool for students in elementary all the way to 12th grade.

Student engagement and excitement abounds when using Minecraft for learning. Check out this project made by a student who was assigned to create a Rube Goldberg machine in Minecraft.

O365 Accounts

The first step is getting a FREE Microsoft O365 account. I recommend this regardless of Minecraft. Like G Suite for Education, Microsoft tools are provided free of cost to schools.

Microsoft offers single sign on with your G Suite for Education logins. This means Google schools can also offer Microsoft tools such as Minecraft and Sway without having an additional username and password for students. This needs to be set up by the IT administrator.

Check to see if you already have an eligible account (enter school email address):

If you are eligible, you will receive the message providing directions on how to download Minecraft: Education Edition

If not, you will receive the following message

You will be pointed to the website to create an Office 365 account:

If your school already has Office 365 you will be prompted to indicate whether you are a teacher or student:

If your school is not already set up, an IT admin can enroll your school.

Providing your domain is registered and has Office 365 set up by IT, students or teachers should be able to create their own account or the accounts could be created by the IT administrator.

If your school is not signed up or eligible, you will receive one of the following screens:

Download Minecraft Education Edition

Install on teacher devices and student devices if available. M:EE works on PC, Mac, and iPad. Students will want to download Minecraft Education Edition on their computers at home.
