Students Submit Bitmoji to Google Classroom

First let me warn you that Bitmoji has some really inappropriate Bitmoji’s. Drinking beer and other things. I would not recommend to students that they install Bitmoji. Some students already have it and their parents know about it. In that case I am okay with them using it, I just don’t want to be the person who suggests it. Same with Snapchat and anything else. If their parents know about it and students have it, they like to be able to use this at school.

Private Comments

My favorite part of Google Classroom is the Private Comments. I’m disappointed when students turn in something and don’t leave me a Private Comments note. It’s an opportunity for students to reflect, ask a question, or give me feedback. I notice several of them have been pasting the link to their Bitmoji.

Upload the Bitmoji

I can’t see the Bitmoji without clicking on the link. Usually, it is a Bitmoji of the student with thumbs up. They could download the Bitmoji image and just attach it to the assignment. The students click on “Add” and choose “File” and add the Bitmoji picture.

What is great about this option is that the student can use ANY image, not just a Bitmoji. So students can take a selfie and submit a picture of them with a thumbs up. But what is really great about this option is that I do not have to open the file I can see the students image right in Google Classroom. Which really would be the point, the student is visually sharing their enthusiasm.

Mobile Bitmoji

If students are accessing the Bitmoji or other images on their phone, they can save the image to their camera roll. Using the Google Classroom app students tap on the paperclip icon for the assignment and add the Bitmoji from their camera roll.

Google Drawing

While it is not that hard to download the Bitmoji and add it to a Google Classroom assignment, it is not as easy as dragging. If students are using a Chromebook, PC or Mac and have the Bitmoji Chrome extension they can create a Google Drawing right in the Classroom assignment. Students can then easily DRAG the Bitmoji onto the drawing.

Customize

By using the Google Drawing option, students can add other elements to the image. A speech bubble for example.

Feedback

A Google Drawing added to a Google Classroom assignment is editable by the teacher. You can see in the image below that the student made me a Google Drawing with their Bitmoji. I then was able to drag MY Bitmoji onto the same drawing in response. 🙂 It’s just fun.
