Install the Google Classroom App

If you are a Google Classroom user and do not have the mobile app you are missing out. The apps do not have all the same features of the browser version, but pretty close. One of the advantages to using Google Classroom is the ability to interact with students anywhere. While I live in California I am sitting in Alaska right now using the Google Classroom mobile app to reply to students and post assignments.

The Classroom app increases my efficiency and improves my teaching. I am able to be more responsive to students, which improves learning. I highly recommend taking advantage of the Private Comments in Google Classroom. The Classroom app makes it easy to answer students questions and guide their thinking while working on assignments.

Create or Join a Class

Just like the browser, you can create or join a Google Classroom class by clicking on the plus icon in the upper right.

Add a class

View Done

Just as on the browser you can scroll the Stream to view the Done count. My goal is to have the Done count be ZERO. I return student work quickly so I can tell if students have turned in work since I last viewed the assignment. Tap on the assignment in the Stream.

View how many are done

Review Student Work

Tapping on “Student Work” you can view a roster of your students. Tap on any student to view their work and comment on it. Make sure you have all of the Google Apps installed. Google Drive, Slides, Sheets and Docs. While not required, I recommend Google Keep also.
